I met Mr. Burn through his love for Tulip Mrs. John T. Scheepers, named after his Aunt Rose, my great aunt. She was married to Johannes Scheepers who founded the John Scheepers Beauty from Bulbs company in 1908, where I work. Mr. Burn and I shared our family memories through long phone calls and emails. He told me of his memories of summers in Jamestown, RI at "Rose's Cottage". He was exceedingly gracious and kind. I so admired his kindness, reverence for historical preservation, and generosity of spirit. I am sad that I hadn't yet sent him the round of Gouda that I bought him as a present when I was in the Netherlands, the taste of childhood memories for which he longed. I will so miss our chats, his kind emails, gentle humor and sweet letters. The world was a better place with Mr. Harry T. Burn in it. I am honored to have known him in these ways.
